CSU Day at the Stock Show: Activity Booths, All-Day Events, and More!

January 13 @ 10:00 am - 5:00 pm

Activities are all day unless otherwise noted.

In the Hydro building:

One Water Solutions Institute Demonstrations: Visit the Water TAP to meet water experts and learn more about onsite water recycling at Spur and beyond! Visitors can watch water treatment demonstrations using electrodialysis membrane systems. The Water TAP will also host the Nautical Knockdown featuring robot boat battles — CSU Mechanical engineering students have applied their engineering skillsets to conceptualize, design, and construct a boat capable of water warfare.

CSU Admissions Booth: Meet with the Admissions teams from CSU Fort Collins, CSU Pueblo, and CSU Global. Find out more about programs, courses, and degrees offered, and find your future path at the CSU System!

CSU College of Natural Sciences Water Exploration Lab: Explore the water cycle in this hands-on and interactive program. Open to all ages.

CSU College of Engineering Activity Booths: Drones, battleboats, microbes, and more! Discover the many different sides and careers in the world of engineering at different interactive booths.

Trout Unlimited Activity Booth (10 a.m.-1 p.m.): Meet with the Denver Trout Unlimited team and learn all about trout in Colorado, fishing tips, and sustainability!

Denver Museum of Nature & Science Activity Booth: Join the team from the Denver Museum of Nature and Science in hands-on activities and discover the fun in science!

CSU Little Shop of Physics Activity Booth: Join the Little Shop of Physics team from CSU to get hands-on with science! Explore, investigate, and discover how our world works with different experiment stations and activities. All ages welcome.

In the Terra building:

CAM’s Ag Academy: Come join CAM’s Ag Academy as we explore the world of agriculture!

Plant Diagnostic Lab Demonstrations

Kendall Reagon Nutrition Center Activity Booth: Learn all about healthy eating and nutrition science with CSU Spur’s Kendall Reagan Nutrition Center team!

Soil, Water, and Plants Testing Lab Activity Booth: Get hands-on with the expert team from the Soils, Water, and Plant Testing Labs! Learn about water alkalinity, worm composting, soil layers with LEGOS, and more!

In the Vida building:

Community College of Denver Vet Tech Program Informational Booth: Learn about the veterinary technician program at the Community College of Denver in this interactive booth.

History Colorado Center Activity Booth: Get hands-on with the education team from the History Colorado Center and learn all about the cultural history of human relationships with bison and other animals.

JOCELYN HITTLE

Associate Vice Chancellor for CSU Spur & Special Projects, CSU System

Jocelyn Hittle is primarily focused on helping to create the CSU System’s new Spur campus at the National Western Center, and on supporting campus sustainability goals across CSU’s campuses. She sits on the Denver Mayor’s Sustainability Advisory Council, on the Advisory Committee for the Coors Western Art Show, and is a technical advisor for the AASHE STARS program.

Prior to joining CSU, Jocelyn was the Associate Director of PlaceMatters, a national urban planning think tank, and worked for the Orton Family Foundation. She has a degree in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology from Princeton, and a Masters in Environmental Management from the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies.

Jocelyn grew up in Colorado and spends her free time in the mountains or exploring Denver.

TONY FRANK

Chancellor, CSU System

Dr. Tony Frank is the Chancellor of the CSU System. He previously served for 11 years as the 14th president of CSU in Fort Collins. Dr. Frank earned his undergraduate degree in biology from Wartburg College, followed by a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the University of Illinois, and a Ph.D. and residencies in pathology and toxicology at Purdue. Prior to his appointment as CSU’s president in 2008, he served as the University’s provost and executive vice president, vice president for research, chairman of the Pathology Department, and Associate Dean for Research in the College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences. He was appointed to a dual role as Chancellor in 2015 and became full-time System chancellor in July 2019.

Dr. Frank serves on a number of state and national boards, has authored and co-authored numerous scientific publications, and has been honored with state and national awards for his leadership in higher education.

Dr. Frank and his wife, Dr. Patti Helper, have three daughters.
