Education associate
Camila is serving as an education associate at CSU Spur through AmeriCorps and the Environmental Education Corps. She is passionate about connecting people with nature through meaningful, hands-on experiences and believes that environmental education can inspire curiosity, strengthen our relationship with the natural world, and encourage a lifelong commitment to conservation.
Camila holds a bachelor’s degree in International Relations and is currently pursuing a professional master’s degree in Biodiversity Conservation and Sustainable Development at ESCAS – Instituto IPÊ in Brazil. Her academic and professional work focuses on environmental education, conservation, and the relationship between people and the natural environment. Her master’s research explores approaches to outdoor and environmental education, with a particular interest in creating meaningful learning experiences and connecting traditional ecological knowledge with conservation.
Before joining CSU Spur, Camila worked as an outdoor and environmental educator, developing and facilitating experiential programs that connect students with nature through exploration, play, and hands-on learning. She has experience working with children and young people in outdoor education settings and is passionate about creating spaces where students can build confidence, curiosity, and a sense of connection to the environment.
Originally from Brazil, Camila developed her love for the outdoors through climbing, trail running, hiking, and exploring Brazil’s diverse ecosystems. She is especially interested in the intersection of environmental education, conservation, traditional knowledge, and outdoor learning. In her free time, she enjoys climbing, running, spending time outdoors, and learning about plants and the natural world.
