Join partner Denver Water at CSU Spur every Wednesday for a rotating slate of hands-on activities, including things like:
- Water Delivery Challenge: Most communities in the Denver metro area rely on precipitation for drinking water supplies yet Colorado receives limited precipitation. Water utilities extend pipes and other infrastructure far into the mountains to bring water to the city. In this activity, we will have to collaborate with each other and use the tools available to get the water from one place to another successfully.
- Balance the Scales: A water utility’s primary responsibility is to deliver safe drinking water to its customers and delivering that drinking water requires balancing water supply and water demand. Too much water? Where will we store it? Too little water? How will we stretch it? Try your hand at using different approaches to keep the two sides balanced.
- Model Your Watershed: The Rocky Mountains in Colorado are the start of eight major watersheds. Explore the geography of watersheds and how we can understand Colorado’s unique geography to predict where water flows and how we can ensure we use it efficiently.
Please note: programming will rotate and specific activities are not guaranteed on any given day.
