Aug 20, 2021 @ 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm

Colorado State University is proud to announce three new volunteer opportunities at the Temple Grandin Equine Center located at 4980 Brighton Blvd., Denver, CO 80216. The Temple Grandin Equine Center is seeking enthusiastic, self-motivated individuals with a passion for horses and individuals with special needs for three new volunteer opportunities.

Horse leaders and side walkers

Horse leaders: Horse handling/training/showing experience is a definite plus! In this role you will be grooming, tacking and leading the horse during exciting therapy sessions. If you do not have horse experience and would still like to participate as a horse leader, we are more than happy to assist you in acquiring the skills needed.

Side walkers: No horse experience necessary. In this role you will be walking alongside the horse during sessions, your primary goal is to make sure our participant is safe. You may be asked by the instructor or therapist to interact with the participant.

Grounds maintenance

No horse experience necessary. In this role you will be assisting us in giving our facility “curb appeal”, helping to keep the property free of clutter, indoors and out. This may include cleaning horse stalls and pens, moving hay, wiping down bleachers or arena panels, cleaning tack or just basic housekeeping. We welcome anyone to participate!

Horse exercisers

Extensive horse handling experience is a must. Training in multiple disciplines a plus. In this role you will be assisting in keeping our herd physically and mentally fit.
