Homeschool Takeover at CSU Spur (free registration)

April 9 @ 10:00 am - 2:00 pm

Come participate in a fun, educational, and FREE experience for homeschoolers of all ages at CSU Spur in Denver! The Spur campus has three buildings — focused on food, water, and human and animal health — and participants will have the opportunity to explore and participate in activities across all three. View live animal surgeries at Humane Colorado, discover qualities of water, cook in our teaching kitchen, learn about Colorado rivers in the Backyard… There will be something for everyone to enjoy!

Here are a few experiences to expect.

  • CAM’s Agricultural Academy, presented by CSU Agricultural Education, strives to engage every school-aged child in the state of Colorado with an opportunity to experience agricultural education. At Spur this can mean many things from in-lab visits, homeschool lesson kit check-out, and individualized programming.
  • 4H will be facilitating soil painting to learn about the characteristics of different soil substrates.
  • Explore the Maker Space and learn how unique tools and equipment are used to craft art, objects, and more! Be prepared to design and think like an engineer.
  • Join Humane Colorado’s education team to learn about animal care and careers in veterinary medicine.

Participants will be provided with a campus map and a list of activities as they navigate the campus to explore the engaging experiences through an open house style event. Groups are expected to ensure all youth have chaperones at a ratio of one adult for every ten youth, and all chaperones must also be registered.

REGISTER.
