Get your boots on as Colorado State University prepares to celebrate its Western heritage at the National Western Stock Show. This year’s CSU Day, one of the most attended days of the 16-day stock show, will take place on Saturday, Jan. 19, 2019.

CSU Day will feature appearances by university dignitaries at the Pro Rodeo, Ag Adventure, an interactive exhibit in collaboration with the Colorado Department of Agriculture, teaches kids about where their food comes from. Visit CSU’s third floor booth in the Hall of Education for special giveaways and activities and a chance to get your picture taken with CAM the Ram.

CSU National Western Center

CSU has also made a long-term commitment to the upcoming National Western Center, a 250-acre site near Interstates 70 and 25 that will become a year-round center for education and entertainment. The National Western Center,  which  broke ground last year, will offer a unique environment for researchers to create lasting solutions to complex issues, as well as educate the local community in the subjects of food systems, water, environment, energy, and health.

CSU will have three buildings on the National Western Center campus. The CSU Water Building, set to open in 2021, will bring experts together to address the most pressing issues surrounding water usage today. The building will be constructed near a restored section of the South Platte River, and will be home to hands-on water education for the community.

The CSU Animal Health Building will allow students of all ages to participate in everything from day-camps to research projects in the fields of animal and human health. The building will work in collaboration with the Denver Dumb Friends League to provide general animal welfare education.

Lastly, the CSU Center will tie together research, outreach and community service to further the mission of the National Western Center. The building will serve as the Denver Urban extension office for CSU and offer a wide variety of educational resources for the community. The university is working to engage with the local community and partner with schools in the area to create vibrant spaces, impactful research, and year-round programming for this unique project.
